As far as I can tell, we’ve only had three businesses offer Groupon deals in the past, as well as one BuyWithMe deal. Of the four offers, two are from Banya, the Russian bathhouse.
What businesses do you wish would offer deals via Groupon? What area businesses already offer good deals – lunch specials, coupons, etc? I’m hoping for a Sake Sushi one sometime.

If you’re looking for a different sort of curry in the area, Sake Sushi makes Japanese curry! Japanese curry is hard to find in a lot of places, and its history is a reminder of the relationship between food and culture. From wikipedia:
Curry was introduced to Japan during the Meiji era (1868–1912) by the British, at a time when India was under the administration of the British. The dish became popular and available for purchase in supermarkets and restaurants in the late 1960s. It has been adapted since its introduction to Japan, and is so widely consumed that it can be called a national dish.
$9 gets you a ton of curry – yes, that is a quart.

On a plate. The red curry sauce isn’t as spicy as AM Thai’s, but it’s not bland, either.

I finally went to Sake on Sunday, and it was more than worth the trudge through the rain. Everything was fantastic. The steak hibachi was incredibly tender, and the fried rice was supremely light. I was provided with a mustard and a ginger sauce, which were both good, but nothing needed it.

My husband ordered the chicken teriyaki, which was light and smoky.

The banana tempura was excellent, and I only regret that we didn’t order ice cream as well.

Lorna has a review up of the new Sake sushi restaurant (she reports they have toro, which is hard to find around here!), and with it she has this photo of the space as it was being renovated to become a restaurant. She wonders when it was actually Mike’s Grocery–anyone know?

Following up on his positive comment from the other day, Ron Lopez has a review of the new restaurant Sake Japanese Cuisine over at Kensington Stories:
Last night at Sake a line was starting to form outside, something I haven’t seen since they showed “Death Wish” at the old Beverley back in 1975.
And it was nice actually walking home after “going out to dinner”
instead of driving six miles from Bay Ridge.
Just remember that until they get their liquor license, it’s BYOS (Bring Your Own Sake).
