Dog of the Week: Rock
Friday, February 19th, 2010

Together with the kind folks at the Sean Casey Animal Rescue Shelter we are bringing you the Dog of the Week:
Please meet Rock, a handsome and kind 5 year old Pit Bull Terrier mix.
Rock was found as a stray on Bay Parkway on Nov 6, 2009, and brought into the animal control by the police. During his stay at animal control he came down with a severe kennel cough which took him off the adoption floor and into the sick room. He was treated for his cough, but by the time he recovered, he had long exceeded his length of stay (the CACC is only required to hold them for 72 hours). He was moved to the euthanasia list.
Because of his sweet temperament, he had become a staff favorite and they did everything they could to buy him time. He managed to make it 30 days in animal control before the higher ups caught on and made sure he stayed on the list.
Sean Casey happened to be at the shelter on the day he was scheduled to be put down: “Some staff members convinced me to go meet him, and after doing so I realized he needed to come to our no-kill shelter. He has been with us for over 2 months now and really should have found a home by now. He’s great with other dogs, all people and children but being an adult pit bull he is sadly overlooked.”
Rock is a great dog – has a good temperament, is very loveable and very responsive to attention. Rock behaves very well around other animals and children . He is also very strong and will do best with an owner who is familiar and comfortable with this breed. Rock will be a loyal and steady companion. He will thrive in a secure, caring, permanent home.
Stop by the shelter and spend time with him to see if he is the right match for you. Talk to the staff. Rock is neutered, dewormed, treated for the prevention of fleas and ticks and is up to date with vaccinations. His adoption fee is $200.00 and he’ll get one free exam at their vet’s office, one free month of pet health insurance and a microchip.
If you’d like to adopt Rock please call or visit… Sean Casey Animal Rescue Shelter is located at 153 E3rd Street, between Caton and Fort Hamilton Parkway (Fort Hamilton F stop) and is open every day from 11am to 7pm. You can see all the animals available for adoption on their website or on Petfinder.
Rock can’t wait to meet you!
(And if you can’t commit to adopting an animal just yet, here are some other ways to help: they are always in need of rolls of paper towels, bleach, other cleaners and newspaper. Just bring them by!)
